The Math Map is aclassical Christian math curriculum developed by Leigh Bortins and ClassicalConversations that has a 13-year sequence and a 30-week scope. The Math Map isdesigned to help families seek God through mathematics while equipping studentsfor all levels of future math studies. Organized by dimension, students areintroduced to the grammar of arithmetic, geometry, and algebra, given theopportunity to practice skills through the dialectic of problem-solving, andencouraged to become rhetorical in key foundational concepts of mathematics.
The Math Map: Integers is the level of The Math Mapthat uses all forms of integers as the domain for calculations. The Integersdomain correlates to ages 7+.
2. What doesThe Math Map: Integers look like?
The Math Map: Integers is a set of 30 booklets thatrepresent 30 lessons to be completed over 30 weeks.Each booklet is designed to be self-contained, with lesson pages, referencecharts, and solutions included. The booklets are 3-hole punched for ease oforganizing in binders. The Math Map: Integers is sold as ashrink-wrapped set with individual booklets available for purchase to downloadif a replacement of a single booklet is needed.

The Math Map: Integers is designed for use by students7+ and their families in the Foundations program. Older students may use TheMath Map: Integers when a review of operations on integers is needed.

Though designedto be consumable, families may share The Math Map: Integersbooklets by doing all work on separate paper or by using sheet protectors.Materials may not be duplicated for use with additional students.
Students atdifferent levels should use the domain most appropriate to their level. Pagesare laid out across domains so that siblings will work with similar exercisesusing different domains.
12. Is the resource consumable?
The Math Map: Integers is designed to be consumable,though families may choose not to write in the booklets, thus allowing them tobe reused.
13. Is there any difficult or dark subject matter?
The Math Mapseeks to provide a hospitable invitation to the math conversation using art anda clear mapping of the subject to overcome any possible or previous reluctanceby parents to lead math education in their homes.
14. What has changed from the previous edition?
This is the first edition of The Math Map:Integers.
15. Does this replace another product orresource?
The Math Map: Integers replaces the recommendation forFoundations families to use the Saxon math curriculum.
16. How is this product used in community?
The Math Map: Integers is recommended for families toprepare for The Math Map: Complex used in the logic strand in ChallengeA. Students will use The Math Map: Integers at home. When the full rollout of The Math Map is complete, allstudents will have access to an appropriate domain of The Math Map andcommunities will be able to share in a common math conversation.

The Math Map teamdeveloped the curriculum based on years of experience teaching mathematics witha wide range of curricular choices. References such as Wolfram MathWorld wereused to determine preferred notation when multiple options were available.
25. Does thisresource contain religious material?
The purpose of the curriculum is to helpfamilies to discover God through mathematics. Specifically, each booklet of TheMath Map: Integers has a piece of art, a quotation, and a reflectionthat come from a variety of sources, including the Bible. Each booklet containsan essay, “A Contribution to the Conversation,” which connects the topic of thebooklet to the art, quotation, and reflection with the purpose of helpingstudents and families help to see the spiritual connections in the topic. In TheMath Map Companion, a series of essays called The Travelogue unitesspiritual understanding with the examination of math dimensionality.
26. If Scripture isused, which version of the Bible is used?
Currently, scripture references in The MathMap: Integers and The Math Map Companion are in KJV, ESV, orNASB.
27. If this resource is a new edition, will acomparison sheet be provided on the bookstore page?
This is the firstedition, but the errata from the first edition will be included with subsequenteditions.

No, there will beno director or group discounts on The Math Map: Integers.
29. Why is this product beingused/added/replaced?
Due to theproprietary nature of Saxon Mathematics, Classical Conversations cannot providesupport or training or create derivative products in support of the currentmaterials. In 2017, Leigh Bortins began to develop a new curriculum based onChristian principles and classical methods of education that can be fullysupported by Classical Conversations through additional materials and onlineresources.
30. Is the productavailable to the public for purchase?
There are norestrictions on the purchase of The Math Map: Integers. Thecurriculum is intended for use by families enrolled in Classical ConversationsCommunities, and only those families have access to support for the materials.This includes access to The Math Map Companion, which is onlyavailable to members of CC Connected who have paid their tuition for a CCCommunity.
