The Benefit of Creating Flash Cards for The Math Map (TMM).
Similar to the way we recommend students make their own flashcards for Latin vocabulary, making your own math flashcards can add a deeper level of understanding to the new grammar you will see inside The Math Map. In addition to flashcards, students can create their own glossary of math terms. This can serve to help them drill new grammar.
One quick reference to help get started is the Common Symbols and Abbreviations page at the beginning of the glossary inside TMM Companion.
Here are a few suggestions to help you create your own set as you work through the curriculum.
1. Highlight or circle items inside the curriculum that are unfamiliar.
2. The lesson pages may give you a definition you can use. For example: this shows that N
represents Natural Numbers.
3. The glossary found inside TMM Companion is another resource that can provide definitions.
Finally, the charts inside the printed booklets and inside TMM Companion can provide definitions.
