The Math Map: Where To Begin

Where do I begin?

  1. Check out beginner information about what The Math Map is all about by visiting the main landing page: The Math Map

  1. Watch our Intro to TMM video where we compare Booklets 1 and 2 and learn about other resources.

  1. Visit our TMM Resources Page providing detailed information about our resources. The Math Map Resources | Smore Newsletters

  1. Check out the beta version of The Math Map.

This all in one document includes the booklet cover (to look for connections to God and math), the Contribution to the Conversation (to aid in finding connections to God and math in the art), and the sixteen lesson pages with their answer key (to practice loading the grammar with possible new math notations). The font of the lesson pages has been reduced so that four pages fit onto one regular page. This saves space and ink when printing. The Naturals booklets can give you or your older student an introduction to the layout of this classical math curriculum.

The Beta versions are an excellent opportunity for you to use for yourself as lead learner or for your student to have on hand to look at a lower domain to help them navigate an area of difficulty.

This beta is different from the printed booklets purchased in the bookstore as you will not have the i pages, charts, careful calculations, or the game page included.

The link to download the Naturals 4-in-1 Document is listed here: Naturals 4-in-1 Document

5. Inside TMM Companion, there are introductory videos that can help you get started as well. If you click on The Math Map logo,

a new screen will appear on the right side of the window.

There are several articles that might be helpful but if you click on the Introductory videos at the bottom you will see several that can help get you started.

  1. Here are a few ways parents are being equipped and supported.

    • We have local Book reps who are facilitating TMM at Home events. They are able to answer questions about how to use the curriculum at home. If you are unsure who your Book Rep may be, your Local Rep should be able to help you.
    • You are invited to attend The Math Map Book club on Wednesdays 1pm EST where there is time set aside for live Q&A with the authors of The Math Map. https://leighbortins.com/book-club-info/. Our last completed series talked about how to use TMM at Home. If you can't make it live, here are the recordings: TMM At Home You Tube Playlist
    • You can post questions on the forum. We have a Math Map thread in Foundations, Essentials, Challenge A, Challenge B and Challenge I.

    • You can email us here at themathmap@classicalconversations.com . We are here every weekday answering questions from parents and directors all over the United States. :)
    • As a Ch A/B/I parent, you also have access to your Ch A/B/I Director as a resource. We have held over 1500 Orientations equipping those leaders. They are also available to help as well.
    • Lastly, we have more help in the form of videos and explanations inside TMM Companion. If you are not familiar with TMM Companion, your director should be able to help or you can watch this Tour of TMM Companion (link embedded).

If you are trying to determine where your student should begin, use this chart to get started.
