College Readiness and The Math Map

Can you comment on the “college readiness” factor for this new Math Map. For students who are college bound, Math and advanced Math are very important. How does this curriculum compare to Saxon or Shormann in the high school years? Will they be ready for SAT/CLT exams? College Math courses? I am concerned that they will not be ready since this is such a new product.

To address your questions about college readiness, we have developed a curriculum with the high goal of seeing the unseen, of knowing God through mathematics. We are confident that students who complete the Challenge levels of The Math Map will be well prepared for college or whatever the Lord has planned for them. Rather than being exposed to topics once or twice, they will repeatedly wrestle with ideas from arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. They will have the opportunity to build their grammar of mathematics and develop a math memory. Their computation skills will grow from arithmetic through algebra as they calculate on all forms of complex numbers and ultimately on all types of algebraic expressions. While it is only anecdotal evidence, families who have used The Math Map in pilot communities have seen significant increases in college testing scores.
